Why visit Manali

Manali combines pine forests, the Beas river and snow-capped peaks with an easy-going café culture in Old Manali. It works for families, honeymooners and adventure travellers alike.

Old Manali and Vashisht

Old Manali has guesthouses and cafés along narrow lanes above the Manalsu stream. Across the river, Vashisht village is known for its hot springs and temple.

Day trips

Solang Valley is the closest snow and adventure hub. Atal Tunnel opens up Sissu and the Lahaul valley in a single day, road conditions permitting.

Summer (March–June): pleasant 10–25°C days, ideal for sightseeing and paragliding.
Monsoon (July–September): landslides can block roads; travel only with flexible plans.
Winter (December–February): snowfall, sub-zero nights, best for snow activities.

Weather

Mountain weather changes quickly. Even in summer, evenings are cool — carry a warm layer. In winter, roads beyond Solang may close after heavy snow.

Travel precautions

  • Check road status for Atal Tunnel and Rohtang before leaving — permits are required for Rohtang Pass.
  • Avoid river banks during the monsoon.
  • Acclimatise for a day before high-altitude trips.
  • Use only registered operators for paragliding and rafting.
